Who am I?

Alex! A human person working on narrative illustration and trying not to feel nervous.

What is cucumbers?

Less of a newsletter, more of a bucket of illustrated memories!

Mostly written from childhood experiences (though not always), these anecdotes are released bi-weekly and in no particular order.

For me, the premise of these little blips is a chance to work as loosely and intuitively as possible—not over-thinking or over-editing or over-developing. Just free interpretations of stories that have made up life so far, using all the material I have already as a soft place to land.

I hope this exercise strengthens my storytelling, helps me critique other more finished drawings less harshly, and gives me a place to share and play with abandon.

Even though I’m afraid of the internet and scared to be myself, I’m so happy you found me here!

*If you’re wondering whether or not these stories are true—they are as true as I remember them, whatever that means. Note that proper nouns have been altered to protect privacy of individuals, and because it’s hard to remember all the parts of all the things anyway.
